The sciatic nerve is a major nerve, or more precisely nerve with the largest diameter in human body that extends from the lumbar part of the spinal cord down the back of the thigh and divides above the knee joint. The sciatic nerve provides sensation and strength of the leg, connects the spinal cord with the outside of the thigh, and muscles of the leg and foot. In other words, the sciatic nerve controls the movements we do with our extremities.
Pain that appears as a result of irritation or inflammation of the sciatic nerve is called sciatica. The most common reason for sciatica is compression of a spinal nerve root in the lower back, often owing to degeneration of an intervertebral disc. Patients who suffer from sciatica experience muscle weakness in the leg and/or numbness or tingling, as well as unbearable pain in the back of the thigh.

The combination of garlic and almond milk relieves inflammation and pain in the legs, and patients who have used this remedy explain that with the regular use, garlic milk completely eliminates the sciatic nerve pain.
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 cup almond or rice milk
- Honey (for better taste – optional)
Peel off the garlic and put the cloves into a food processor or blender and mix until you get a garlic puree. If you don’t have a blender, you can crush the garlic cloves with a garlic grinder. Pour the garlic puree in a plastic bowl and add the vegetable milk of your choice and the honey. Stir well until you get a homogenous paste.
You can consume this remedy hot or cold, by your choice. In order to get best results, it is advisable to take 200–250 ml garlic milk on a daily basis and divide this amount into two part (for example, you can consume 100 ml after breakfast and 100 ml after lunch).
